A Look inside Mālama Solar

We are pulling back the curtain for a behind-the-scenes look inside Mālama Solar!

2022 was a year of incredible growth and excitement for us – we joined new team members, expanded onto a new island, and our growth team exceeded their expectations.

It’s through the team’s hard work providing incomparable service and aloha to our customers that we are able to reach such great heights. We attribute our growth to our culture of Mālama; by fully encompassing the meaning of Mālama “to care for” in all that we do, we hope to continue to be the best solar installers on Oahu.

lama Solar grew exponentially in 2022. We added one more install crew on O’ahu, hired new sales team members, and formed a marketing team. (We continually receive feedback from customers about how great our installers are!)  As we scaled, we needed to migrate from one customer relationship management tool to Salesforce which allowed us to accomplish better integrations and work at a higher scale.

According to Alex Ah Sue, Outside Sales Rep, “We knew we were going to grow this year, we just didn’t know we’d grow this fast…thanks to improved operations, joining of new team members and dedication by the rest of the team here at Mālama.”

To inspire the growth of Hawaii solar and showcase our accomplishments as the best solar installers on Oahu, we aired our first commercial on Hawaii News Now and all its affiliate channels. Additionally, we expanded our operations and moved into a significantly larger, newly constructed office. The space was designed to inspire the team at Mālama Solar with the inclusion of a mural by a local artist and a creative work/playroom.

The meaning of Mālama is to care for – local artist Jack Soren hoped to reflect that in bold, vibrant, and inspiring murals featured throughout Mālama Solar HQ in Honolulu, HI. At Mālama, we are determined to protect our environment, land, and oceans. The mural by Soren is a beautiful reminder of the true essence of Mālama.

“Respect the mountains, respect the land, because it provides a spiritual way of life for Native Hawaiians. The murals aim to give meaning through an image.” – Jack Soren, Mural Artist

Our Plans for the Future
To move forward and grow intentionally, we’d like to stay connected to the community through the continued inclusion of local cultural practices in our company events. This past year, we brought in an expert on Hawaiian agriculture to introduce the art of Kalo pounding and how to make poi – teaching team members culturally relevant skills and passing down the knowledge of an ancient Hawaiian practice.
